3 Keys to Unlock a More Powerful Prayer Life

In Matthew 7:7–8, Jesus gave us one of the greatest invitations in all of Scripture…

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one  who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

These three simple commands—ask, seek, knock—reveal the power of persistent, faith-filled prayer and reveal the key to deepening our relationship with God.

If you’re wondering how to fulfill those three commands, there’s no better example to follow than Jesus’ own.

Jesus modeled these same commands in His own prayer life. Sometimes alone, sometimes with His closest friends, and sometimes with great crowds of people around Him.

His disciples had front-row seats to watch Him pray—and, my friend, so do you and I as we dive into His Word!

Early in the morning, late at night, before miracles, in times of need—Jesus gave all things to His Father in heaven… and everyone around Him saw the power that flowed from that personal, intimate connection.

In the same way, your relationship with the Father will grow deeper and stronger as you meditate on these three foundational aspects of prayer and begin to incorporate them into your own prayer life…

Jesus invites us to ask—to come before God boldly, bringing our needs, desires, and burdens. No burden is too heavy to share. No joy is too small to celebrate with Him!

He also encourages us to seek—to pursue God with all our hearts, trusting that He will reveal Himself to us. This is an active pursuit, stepping out in faith, rather than sitting back and waiting.

He tells us to knock—to persist in prayer, never giving up, because God promises to open doors in His perfect timing.

As you accept Christ’s invitation to ask, seek, and knock, you will see your heart, mind, and actions slowly but surely transformed.
