The price of your freedom

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14).

One Christmas Eve before midnight services, the great preacher A. C. Dixon was putting the finishing touches on his sermon about redemption. He was frustrated though, because he couldn’t quite find the perfect illustration. So, he decided to take a walk to clear his mind.

He put on his coat and headed out into the cold evening. Suddenly, a young boy approached him with a cage he had made from branches and twine. Inside the cage were two small birds. “Son, what are you going to do with those birds?” he asked.

“I’ll probably play with ’em for a while, and then I guess I’ll just kill ’em. They’re just worthless old field birds,” the boy said.

“Son, don’t kill those birds,” Dixon said. “Let me buy them from you.” And he reached deep in his pocket and paid for those birds. He took that cage to an open spot there in the city, unleashed the little latch, and the birds began to fly away one by one.

Dixon had his perfect illustration. Later that night, he would tell his congregation that as the birds ascended into the sky, it seemed they were singing, “Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed.”

Jesus saw worth in us sinful people. And because of that, He paid the ultimate price to set us free. So, as we live our lives, every day should be a continual song of redemption – singing that truth over our lives and declaring it to others!

JESUS PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE – DEATH ON A CROSS – T O REDEEM YOU FROM ETERNAL DEATH. DECLARE THAT TRUTH IN YOUR LIFE AND TELL IT TO OTHERS!
