Jesus answered… “Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
John 12:30-32
In any legitimate legal system, there is a period of time between when a suspect is arrested and when he is convicted. In the United States, that time is relatively short, usually a matter of months. But in some places in the world, suspects are held for years before they are given a trial.
When Christ came to earth and died on the cross, Satan was essentially arrested and restrained with respect to his power over believers in Christ. But in a very real way, he also “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
So while Satan is awaiting his execution (see how that will turn out in Revelation 20!), you are to be watchful. But be encouraged that you are already fighting a defeated foe. You are on the winning side!
And because Satan has been defeated by Jesus, a significant barrier to knowing God has been lifted, and people from all over the world are being drawn to Christ!
Satan only has the power over you that you give to him. So live your life each day in light of the victory you have in Christ.
Satan has been defeated so you can live in victory!
