Why do you go to church?

And all who believed were together and had all things in common.

–Acts 2:44

I’d like for us to take a few minutes to think about the church today. What is God's church? What are we all about? What’s our purpose?

Well, let me tell you right now. The church is God's best hope… and last hope… for the world in which we live! As the church, God has equipped you and me to proclaim his message of love and hope to our generation!

Unfortunately, though, there are many churches today that are more superficial than supernatural. And many people attend churches that are bland, monotonous, routine, and predictable.

If this is the kind of local church you’ve been attending, you may have developed an incorrect  idea about the church. God’s church is full of lively people who are warm and pulsating with spiritual life. The church today is a family of believers, a fellowship of kindred spirits in Christ Jesus, who share a message and a calling in him.

I hope you’ve been a part of a great church that loves God, that nurtures you, and gives you a solid understanding of the body of Christ. But if you haven’t had this kind of church experience, it’s not too late!

Find a vibrant, caring church where peoples’ lives are being changed by God, and become a part of what he’s doing there!
