Moses said, “We will go with our young and our old. We will go with our sons and daughters and with our flocks and herds, for we must hold a feast to the Lord.”
–Exodus 10:9
I love the story in Scripture where Moses demanded that Pharaoh let God’s people go. And I particularly love today’s verse.
Pharaoh had just asked Moses who he was planning on taking out of Egypt with him. And you can just hear Pharaoh beginning to negotiate with Moses, "You better be careful now, Moses. Think this through. It's going to be dangerous out there in the wilderness. Your little ones could suffer. Your families might not make it. Why don’t you just take the men, but leave your families behind?"
But Moses made himself very clear, saying in effect, “Everyone’s going! We’re taking all the people and all of our animals. We’re leaving no one and nothing behind and were going to follow God!”
There’s such an important lesson in this for you and I. The devil wants you to leave your family behind. But we need to say, "No! I’m following Christ and I’m bringing my family and friends with me! Everyone’s going!” Don’t let the world have those you love!
Let’s be strong in our convictions, especially us men and fathers, and say “We're all going! All of us are going to serve the living God!”
WE NEED TO SAY, “I’M FOLLOWING CHRIST
AND I’M BRINGING MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITH ME!”
