“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
—Ecclesiastes 12:13
What is the meaning of life? That's a big question today. For some life is simply a void. For others life is a vexation; they're miserable. For others, life is a vacation.
But to those of us who know Jesus Christ life can, indeed, be a victory every day. How do you discover that kind of life? How do you experience life that is full of meaning and full of purpose?
The book of Ecclesiastes is actually the testimony of the wisest man of the Old Testament, King Solomon. What we learn from this very wise and astute man is important for our lives today, because the issues that Solomon faced so long ago are the same issues that we deal with today.
He starts by saying, "I'm miserable. My life is empty. Vanity of vanities… all is vanity." That is, everything adds up to a zero in my life. He said all life lived under the sun is empty, empty, empty.
Because we were made for eternity, God has set eternity in our hearts. There is a life beyond. Every action will be judged. We are going to give an account to God. What's missing in the world today? What's missing in our society today? The fear of God and the reverence of God.
Trust in Jesus Christ and do it today! Live to His glory, for only in Him are true and lasting pleasures given.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE AND IN DEATH IS KNOWING GOD!
