Choosing to be Fearless: Day 2, Praying

My lovely wife and partner in life and ministry, Deb, has written this devotional in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  I hope it blesses you as much as it has me.

PRAYING

I miss seeing my grandchildren. There are no hugs, jumping in my lap or kisses. So we face time. Last evening, we talked to our daughter’s three children. It was chaotic; they were jumping, and screaming. Jack tried to get control by asking them about the scripture for the week. That only lasted a minute. Then Lauren, the 3 year old wanted to sing. She became focused and stared right into the phone and belted out, “It’s me oh Lord, it’s me oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer.”

The simple truth is that we all need prayer. We need to pray for ourselves, friends and families, co-workers, our church and our President. Prayer is the glue that holds us together – it makes the world turn ride side again. It soothes the heart and unleashes the power of God.

My prayer today is that you will choose to be fearless in your prayers.

Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. —1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
