For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
–Romans 5:17
Suppose you go over to a friend or loved one’s home and have a nice meal. It’s a great time. You have some good conversation and really enjoy each other’s company. Then when you get up to leave, you reach in your pocket and say, “Okay, how much do I owe you?”
That would completely insult your host. What they did out of love can’t be paid for in dollars and cents – it’s much too valuable!
In much the same way, you and I cannot pay for the grace and the love of God because it’s a free gift. The payment has already been made, and to even attempt to pay Him back for what He’s given you isn’t just insulting; it’s utterly impossible!
In Christ, the grace of God has already been purchased. And there’s not a single, solitary act you can do that could even come close to paying Him back for that priceless gift.
As a Christian, be a good receiver. Understand what a wonderful gift you’ve been given. Thank God for it and grow in your relationship with Him. You’ve been given an immeasurably valuable gift, so enjoy it!
GOD’S GRACE IS SUCH AN AMAZING GIFT THAT CAN’T BE BOUGHT BY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. SO ENJOY HIS GIFT AND GROW IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
