When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.
–Daniel 6:10
It’s interesting how, very often, the world tells us not to get too fired up about praying and worshiping God. Some say, “You can just pray quietly, so there’s no need to ever pray aloud.” And others say, “God knows your heart, so don’t sing with passion in worship. Just move your mouth and go along with everyone else.”
But when it came to Daniel, where he stood couldn’t have been clearer. When he was told he could no longer pray to God, he sat right by his window as he’d always done, got on his knees, and prayed.
So what can we learn from Daniel? Well, it’s certainly not that we should be abrasive for the sake of getting attention. Nor is it that we should always try to make a statement by being overly irritating when it comes to our worship. What we can learn from Daniel is that when we are fervent in our faith, nothing will stop it.
That’s not a popular way of thinking in today’s world, and I’m sure it won’t get any easier in the years to come. But in a world that shuns truth, we, as believers, must stand firm. Don’t be deterred in your worship by the shifting sands of culture. Be steady in your faith and you’ll endure whatever hardship that may bring!
WHEN THE WORLD PRESSURES YOU TO TONE DOWN THE PASSION IN YOUR PRAYER AND WORSHIP, STAY FERVENT IN YOUR FAITH.
