How to get healthier as you get older

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

–Romans 12:2

There was an old couple that couldn’t hear very well. As they sat around the fire one evening, the old gentleman though he’d get a little romantic with his bride of fifty years. So he said to her, “Honey, I’m sure proud of you.”

Now, she was hard of hearing as well, and said, “Huh?”

So he repeated, “Honey, I’m sure proud of you.”

And she said, “Really? Well I’m tired of you too!”

As you and I go throughout our lives, the outer person decays. No matter what medicine we take or how healthy we may be, those aches and pains, will only keep growing and growing. But while your health may decline, your inner person can be renewed day by day. You don’t have to ever decline spiritually!

Whether you’re in the senior crowd, the young crowd, or any crowd in between, be committed every day to growing in Christ and becoming more and more obedient to His will for you. Real strength is not found in mountains of muscles; it’s not even found in intellectual strength. No, real strength is moral and spiritual strength that comes on the inside. That’s what Paul’s talking about in today’s passage and that’s the strength of Christ that is available to you!

AS YOU GROW OLDER, YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH WILL DECLINE. SO LET YOUR SPIRITUAL HEALTH INCREASE BY GROWING IN YOUR FAITH!
