… appealing to you to contend for the faith…
–Jude 1:3
It seems that some people want to do battle all the time. They’re always looking for a fight. And because all they do is battle, they miss the work that God may have for them.
King David was one of these people. He wanted to build the temple, but do you remember why he couldn’t? The Scripture says that he was a “man of war.” He wasn’t able to build the temple for God because he was always battling.
But look, there are also people that build who never battle. They build churches, institutions, and other great works for God. And because they are not vigilant to defend what they have built, they see it destroyed before their eyes.
If you are determined to live for Jesus Christ, then prepare yourself now to be a builder and a defender of the work God gives you to do.
Then commit yourself to the Lordship of Christ and walk in obedience to his Word. Build when it’s time to build, and contend earnestly when it’s time to defend!
BE A BUILDER AND A DEFENDER OF THE WORK GOD GIVES YOU TO DO.
