Can your good works save you?

For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.

–James 2:10

Picture this. A chain of ten links is dangling over a 1000-foot cliff. And on the end of that chain is you, holding on in desperation to avoid falling to your demise. Now how many of those links would need to be broken for you to fall? Just one.

This illustrates the dilemma every single human being faces. We are all guilty before God – each and every one of us – because we’ve fallen short of His standard. And even if we have fallen short in only one area, we’re guilty of breaking fellowship with Him and deserving of eternal death.

That’s exactly why we simply can’t be saved by good works… because we really have no good works to offer, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

If you think you can go to heaven by being good, you don’t understand the holiness of God. He is absolutely perfect, and His standard is perfection. So instead of trusting in your own goodness for your salvation, trust wholly in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, who can save you from eternal death if you will place your faith in Him!

GOOD WORKS CAN NEVER SAVE YOU. SO PLACE YOUR FAITH FULLY IN JESUS CHRIST TODAY FOR ETERNAL LIFE!
