Do you live to serve or to be served?

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

–Acts 20:35

The great military hero General Douglas MacArthur once said, “There is no security on this earth; there is only opportunity. Empty your days of the search of security and fill them with a passion for service.”

Do you resonate with that statement? Do you have a passion to serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords? Do you have a plan as to how you’re going to witness for Jesus Christ to your family and your friends?  If only the people of God today would heed that call and abandon themselves to service!

But unfortunately today, the church has fallen into a consumer mentality. Instead of seeing themselves as a battleship engaged in warfare, they’d much rather be a cruise ship, living comfortably in the confines of a controlled space where their every need is met.

In the spiritual life, you either live to serve or you live to be served. When you go to church, do you go to worship and serve, or to be entertained? Do you go to work each day just so you can earn money, or do you see it as a place God has put you to invest in His Kingdom?

Live to serve. Don’t just be a consumer; become a contributor. And above all else, give everything you have for the glory of God!

LIVE YOUR LIFE NOT TO BE SERVED, BUT TO SERVE OTHERS AND GIVE EVERYTHING TO THE GLORY OF GOD!
