Doing whatever it takes

And the word of the LORD came to him: “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith…”

–1 Kings 17:2-3

After Elijah had his first encounter with wicked King Ahab, God sent him to brook Cherith. It’s important to pay close attention to what happened to him there.

In that quiet place, Elijah learned to become completely dependent upon God. He prayed and he heard God’s voice. And he truly became God’s man.

When Elijah was sent out of Cherith, he went full of God’s power, and fearlessly proclaimed the message of the Lord. Ultimately, God used him to defeat the prophets of Baal and to bring revival to Israel!

Elijah was so willing to follow God and to do whatever the Lord required of him to bring revival to his generation.

Let me ask you something. Are you like Elijah in that way?

Well, you can be, but you will never have a word of God for your generation until you hear from him first in the quiet place. So follow God to the quiet place, and let him fulfill his work within you so that you can be used mightily by him.

YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A WORD OF GOD FOR YOUR GENERATION UNTIL HE FIRST SPEAKS TO YOU IN THE QUIET PLACE.
