Finding Christ in the midst of brokenness

Have mercy on me, O God,

according to your steadfast love;

according to your abundant mercy

blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

and cleanse me from my sin!

For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is ever before me.

–Psalm 51:1-3

Do you know what sin really is? Many people think of sin as being individual sins – those things that we do. But sin really is a stronger witness against us than that. Apart from Christ, sin is who we are. And when it comes down to it, sin is its middle letter, “I” – it’s doing what you and I want to do, rather than what God wants us to do. It’s choosing our way over his way.

Now if you choose to live apart from God, he’ll let you. He doesn’t force you or coerce you into a relationship with him. No, he gives you the freedom to choose. And if you choose to run your own life – even if you choose to spend eternity apart from God – he’ll let you do that.

Maybe you’re someone who has enjoyed fellowship with the Father and were even born into the family of God by placing your faith in Jesus Christ. But, for some reason, you’ve chosen to live apart from him and your heart is far from him today. Well, there’s hope for you!

God hears whoever cries out to him in the midst of their brokenness. He wants to rescue you from your sin and blot out your transgressions. So if you’ve walked away from the faith, or you never had a saving faith to begin with, it’s never too late to have a new beginning by turning to Christ in your brokenness.

IF YOU’VE WALKED AWAY FROM CHRIST OR HAVE NEVER EVEN KNOWN HIM, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO COME BACK AND BE SET FREE FROM SIN!
