Having full confidence in God’s Word

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

–2 Timothy 3:16-17

Many people today love to question the Bible’s authenticity. But really, there are only three possibilities when you consider Jesus Christ and His belief in the Bible.

One possibility is that errors existed in the Bible and Jesus didn’t know it… that He was a man of His times and just didn’t have the scientific and theological knowledge of our scholars today. Of course, if you choose that possibility, you’re faced with the fact that Jesus Christ – who is God – had no knowledge of the errors that supposedly were contained in the Scriptures. How can God not know His own word?

The second possibility is that there were errors in the Bible and Jesus knew about the errors, but said nothing about it and covered it up. But if you accept that explanation, you’re dealing with the issue of the truthfulness and the integrity of Jesus Himself, which I don’t think is a good road to travel!

The third option is that the Bible is inerrant. When you look at these three options, that’s really the only one that makes sense. So as you read the Scriptures, remember that you can have full confidence in the authority of the Word of God!

AS YOU READ THE SCRIPTURES, REMEMBER THAT JESUS RECOGNIZED THE BIBLE’S AUTHORITY AND BECAUSE OF THAT, YOU CAN HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN IT!
