How to be restored when you’ve failed

For I will restore health to you,

and your wounds I will heal,

declares the LORD…

–Jeremiah 30:17

The great preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon grew up with a little brother who had a degenerative bone disease in his ankles and kept falling down. So Spurgeon’s father got angry at that little boy and one day said to him, “If you keep falling down, I’m going to spank you with a rod!”

Several weeks later, the father spoke to young Charles and said, “Ever since I threatened your little brother about a spanking, I haven’t seen him come in with dirty clothes from falling down.” Charles confessed, “Father, he’s been falling down. But every time he falls down, I pick him up and clean him off.”

That’s what God does for you and me. He loves us so much that when we fall, He picks us up, cleans us off, and sends us away without spot or blemish. Yet many walk around today with downcast attitudes because of their failures. But the truth is that in God’s grace, not one of our sins is counted against us!

Maybe today, you’ve fallen so many times and are ready to give up. But if you fully trust Christ for your forgiveness, you can be sure He’ll pick you up whenever you fall!

TRUST FULLY THAT NO MATTER HOW YOU’VE FAILED, CHRIST WILL PICK YOU UP AND MAKE YOU NEW AGAIN!
