How to find real significance in life

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

–1 Corinthians 6:19-20

One of my favorite comedies of all times has to be the movie, City Slickers. It’s about three friends who were going through a mid-life crisis, were sick and tired of their daily lives, and were always looking for some new adventure. And they were always hoping that by finding the next big thing, it would dull the pain of getting older.

I know too many men and women today who are just like that. They look up one day and think, “I’ve wasted my life.” So they begin trying to make up for time they’ve lost by buying things and doing things to try and convince themselves that they aren’t really getting older.

These feelings of an urgent desire to do something that matters are deeply rooted in our need to find significance. And while many attempt to find that significance in worldly things, God tells us that our significance is truly found not in what we do, but in who He declares us to be.

If you want to make your life matter, start living it for God. Commit daily to Him and His purposes in loving others and living out His calling. Pursue God’s will in your life and you’ll find the significance you desire!

FIND YOUR SIGNIFICANCE NOT IN WORLDLY THINGS, BUT IN WHO GOD MADE YOU AND HIS PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE.
