Not long ago, my wife, Deb, and I were driving home from our grandson’s baseball game. We were talking about our plans for the coming week, and she said, “Jack, don’t forget we’re meeting Wednesday with our estate planner to get our affairs in order.”
I began to think at that moment about how the older I get, the more real eternity is starting to seem. We have insurance policies and wills to take care of everyone else. But when we make that journey from this life to the next, there’s nothing material we can take with us.
On the day you move from this life to the next, it won’t matter what was in your bank account, what kind of car you drove, or how likeable you were to people around you. The only thing that will matter is how you responded to Jesus Christ. Did you trust Him for the forgiveness of your sins, or were you antagonistic or apathetic to His message?
Just like you would prepare to deal with the physical side of death, be prepared more importantly for the spiritual side. Make sure you have a right relationship with Jesus Christ so you can be confident of entering eternal life with Him!
