How to know your faith is real

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

–Romans 8:16–17

Michael Faraday was one of the most influential scientists in modern history. He’s known for his studies in electromagnetism, and he brought about tremendous breakthroughs in the early 19th century. He was also a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

One day, a newspaper reporter was questioning Faraday about his faith. He asked, “Mr. Faraday, what are your speculations about faith?” Faraday replied, “Speculations? I have no speculations. I rest on certainty.”

As believers in Christ, we don’t rest on speculation as many religions do. Many of the universalistic philosophies claim that whatever path you take is equally valid. But the truth is there’s no way every path can be valid when more than one claims to be the only way.

So what is it that made Faraday’s faith certain? It’s the same thing that can make ours certain: resting not on speculation, but on the certainty of the Holy Spirit present in us as evidenced by the change in our lives. So know your faith is real by resting on the supernatural difference it makes in you!

REST ON THE CERTAINTY OF JESUS BECAUSE OF THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT IN YOUR LIFE!
