How to put up a good fight

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

–1 Timothy 6:12

Reggie White, the great NFL defensive player and a Christian, was playing in a game where he was tackling the quarterback over and over again. He was simply beating his blocker every time. The ball would snap – and boom! Reggie was in the backfield making the tackle.

This went on for almost the entire game when late in the fourth quarter, he went over to the fellow who had been trying to block him all day. He reached down to help him off the ground, and when he got up, Reggie told him, “Hey, Jesus loves you and I love you. But you better learn to block!”

Like that gentleman, many Christians don’t know how to block. In fact, they don’t even know how to fight at all against sin and the enemy. But as believers, you and I are built to do battle. We are hard-wired to fight the good fight of faith and give everything God’s given us to resist our adversaries: the world, the flesh, and the devil.

In Christ, you have every tool you need at your disposal to resist the enemy and have real spiritual victory. So contend earnestly for the faith, fighting tooth and nail and clinging to the promise you have of ultimate victory!

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH BOLDLY, CLINGING TO THE PROMISE OF YOUR ULTIMATE VICTORY!
