How you can be a good parent

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

–Ephesians 6:4

I try to play a little golf now and then, and I tend to be pretty good on the practice range. Not long ago, I was invited to play in a tournament our church was having, and I was amazed at how good I was hitting the ball on the practice range. I felt like a combination of Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer!

You see, I had been reading Golf Digest, and I analyzed my swing and I read what the experts said about what I needed to do. I had it all together on the practice range. The only problem was I didn’t bring it out to the course.  I had left my game somewhere between the practice range and the first hole!

When it comes to parenting, there are many people today who are experts. They’ve read all the manuals, they’ve been to the seminars, and they know the principles. In fact, you can find more information about how to be a parent today than ever before. Yet, our society – and even the church today – is desperately lacking good parenting.

It’s one thing to know. It’s another thing to do. So when it comes to parenting, be a doer. Don’t just read the books and go to the seminars. Parent biblically. Love your child. Practice good discipline. And above all else, trust in God and guide your kids in His truths!

DON’T JUST READ MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO BE A GOOD PARENT. PRACTICE BIBLICAL PARENTING!
