How you can be a great leader

“Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”

–2 Chronicles 1:10

There is a great leadership crisis in the world today. I think a big part of the problem is that there are some who serve in leadership who obviously are not qualified. But an even bigger problem is there are some people who are qualified but are not willing to pay the price and make the commitment to be a leader.

That’s why I love King Solomon’s response to God in today’s passage. The Lord said, “I’ll give you anything you want.” And forsaking any material blessing he could’ve imagined, Solomon simply asked for wisdom to lead God’s people. He was committed to his cause.

What does it take to be a good leader today? It takes commitment. It takes putting others before you. It takes devotion to a higher ideal than yourself. And wouldn’t you know it, those are characteristics exemplified by Jesus!

If you want to be a good leader, follow Jesus. Lead how He led by putting others first and devoting yourself to God’s purpose and plan. When you do that, you’ll have no problem finding others who want to follow!

LEAD OTHERS WELL BY FOLLOWING CHRIST’S EXAMPLE OF PUTTING OTHERS FIRST AND TAKING DIRECTION FROM GOD!
