Q & A with Dr. Graham

Q    Isn’t it wrong for Christians to be depressed or have addictions

A   That is false thinking. We are all born in a broken condition. Romans 8:22 teaches that all of creation groans because of the reality of sin that has infected the universe. When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we still have problems and pain from our past and from living in a broken world, but we are redeemed. And once redeemed, we can then be restored and start truly recovering. But this is a lifelong experience, as we continue to grow in our Christlikeness and anticipate the day when He makes all things new.

Q    How can I become healthier in my thinking, and control my emotions?

A    Scripture says, “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). That mind is the truth of Jesus Christ – His attitude, actions, and mindset. In other words, because of Christ being alive in you, start thinking and acting like Jesus. If you think like Christ, the negativity, fears, shame, and unhealthy desires and reactions can be defeated. Begin by contemplating the greatness and goodness of God. Receive the mind of Christ. His presence is in all who believe.
