He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
–Micah 6:8
A farmer went to a farming exposition one day and came across a fellow selling a book on new farming ideas. The salesman told the farmer, “In this book are ideas about farming that will change everything. You’ll be a better farmer and make more money than you could imagine.”
That farmer looked at the fellow and said, “Why would I need that book? I already know more about farming than I’m doing right now!”
The same is often true when it comes to God’s will. Many times, we already know more about what God wants for us than we’re doing right now. We know He wants us to do things like have faith, be thankful, and love others, but it’s easy for many to focus on what they expect to get from God rather than to think about what they’re supposed to do for God.
If discovering God’s will is truly found through a relationship with Him through Jesus, then finding His plan begins with following what we already know. That’s because the reality is, if we’re honest, we probably know more about God’s will than we’re doing today.
Finding God’s will through a relationship with Jesus begins by going back to the basics. Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God!
TAKE THE FIRST STEP IN FINDING GOD’S WILL BY GOING BACK TO THE BASICS OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
