The greatest joy you can experience

O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.

–Psalm 71:17-18

I remember when Jason, our first child, was born at the Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas, where Deb is from. After he was born, they placed him into my arms and I was just overwhelmed that this gift of life had been presented to us.

So I went back to Deb’s parent’s house, where we had been staying. They lived out on the very edge of town and it was so quiet out there. And it was just me by myself. So I got down on my knees, as I did subsequently with the other two children that God gave us, and thanked God for that child.

That night, I rededicated my life to the Lord Jesus and prayed that God would make me the right kind of father and I prayed for my children. I rejoice that today, our children are walking in truth. I’ll tell you, more than anything else in life, I want my children to believe in their dad’s God, to trust their dad’s Savior, and to know the Gospel that their dad preaches.

There’s no greater gift in life than seeing children walk in that truth. So declare God’s power to the next generation each day by showing them his Son, Jesus!

THE GREATEST JOY IN LIFE IS WATCHING CHILDREN WALK WITH THE LORD. SO HELP THEM WALK IN TRUTH BY SHARING JESUS WITH THEM!
