I love reading insight from great heroes of our faith. One of those I consider to be a hero is a missionary by the name of Hudson Taylor. I read once where he said that there are basically three ways people try to serve the Lord:
One, we can do what we want to do, and hope God will be with us. Two, we do what we plan to do, and then ask God to bless it. Or three, we find out what God wants us to do, and then we make ourselves available to do it!
As the people of God, we don’t want God to simply bless our plans. That’s because God wants to give us so much more in our lives than we even know. The only way we’ll find the most joy possible is to determine what God wants for us. That’s where our true, ultimate joy is found!
Don’t just bring God in on the execution phase of your life’s path. Invite Him in on the ground floor. Search His will for every step you take. When you take the time to discern God’s will first, you’ll experience His greatest joy for your life!
