The importance of believer’s baptism

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

–Matthew 28:19-20

I once heard a story of a little boy who came to Christ through a bus ministry. So the bus worker told him, “Now that you know Christ, you need to go forward in the service when the invitation is given, take the minister by the hand, and tell him, ‘I’ve been saved and now I want to be baptized.’”

So as soon as the invitation was given on the next Sunday, that little boy was the first one down the aisle. And he took the preacher by the hand and he said, “Sir, I’ve been saved and I want to be advertised.”

You know something though, that little boy knew more about the real meaning of baptism than a lot of adult Christians I know! Baptism is simply your advertisement of your faith and testimony to say you are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is symbolic of your identity as a new creation in Christ, raised to walk in newness of life.

Baptism is a command for all believers in Jesus Christ. So if you haven’t yet, stand up and identify yourself with Christ by talking to your minister about being baptized in your church.

BAPTISM IS A COMMAND FOR ALL BELIEVERS. SO IDENTIFY YOURSELF PUBLICLY WITH CHRIST BY BEING BAPTIZED IN YOUR LOCAL CHURCH.
