The life available to you in God’s Word

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

–Hebrews 4:12

There are so many different kinds of Bible studies today. I know many people who try what I call the “Lucky Dip” method of Bible study. They come to a crossroads where they have to make a decision and say, “Alright, God, I’m going to throw open my Bible, close my eyes, and point to a verse. Wherever my finger lands, that’s Your will.”

I heard about a guy who did that, and the verse he landed on was, “And Judas went out and hanged himself.” He thought, “Well, that wasn’t too lucky. I better try again.” So he did it again and landed on the verse that says, “Go and do likewise.”

If you really want to know God’s will for your life and your decisions, you have to spend consistent, steady time in the Word of God. And as you do, you’ll find that the Bible speaks to every subject in life. There’s not an issue that can come up in your life that the Word of God doesn’t cover!

I want to admonish you this year to pledge to have a daily time in the Word of God. There are so many reading plans that are available. And with the online tools you have at your fingertips, there’s no excuse. You can even download the Word of God right to your phone or computer and listen any time!

So instead of finding an excuse, get into God’s Word and experience the riches He’s given you in the pages of His Scripture!

MAKE A COMMITMENT TO SPEND CONSISTENT TIME IN THE WORD OF GOD IN THE COMING YEAR AND STICK TO IT!
