The power of having and being a faithful friend

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

–Romans 12:10

There was a little girl who was afraid in her bedroom one night because it was so dark. So her daddy went in and said, “Honey, why are you crying?” “Because I’m so alone,” she said. So he told her, “Well, you’ve got your teddy bear. Hug your teddy bear.”

She said, “I don’t want my teddy bear. I want something with skin on it!”

We need someone with skin, flesh, and blood to come and put a warmhearted love and hug around us and lift us up. That’s why the Bible says a brother is born for adversity (Proverbs 17:17). That's what brothers and sisters are for! My favorite definition of a friend is “someone who comes in when all the world goes out.”

As human beings, we need to gather together with friends and encourage one another. We need love, acceptance, kindness, and encouragement. And not only do we need to have friends like that, but we need to be friends like that.

Never underestimate the power of a godly friendship. Give yourself to God and to others, and experience the reward of living life with those who will love and encourage you!
