I remember one Christmas when I was a kid that I decided to look and find out what my parents had bought me. So I discovered their stash and saw what was in every package. I was so sneaky, in fact, that they didn’t even know I had peeked!
But to be honest, it was the most miserable Christmas I ever had. Not only was all the surprise of opening those presents gone, but I had to fake it and act like I was surprised. In the same way, there are many people that when they get to marriage and the wedding night, they’ve already unwrapped the gift that God had intended for that special day.
Now I realize there are many people that haven’t lived up to God’s standard when it comes to sexual purity. And it’s important to remember that if you’re single and have given yourself away already, there is forgiveness and healing through the grace and love of Jesus Christ.
But the greatest reward comes by full obedience – by waiting until the God-appointed time to awaken physical love and become one with your spouse. So until that day, obey God’s call for sexual abstinence by staying pure and waiting for the wonderful gift of God-given sex!
