The reward of messy ministry

“For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.”

–Matthew 16:27

There was a rich old man who decided he wanted to find a husband for his daughter. So he called all the young men in town together one day and took them out to a swimming pool. He filled the pool with mud and muck and said, “Alright, any man that’s willing to swim from one end of the pool to the other can marry my daughter and will inherit my entire fortune.”

About that time, the old man heard a splash. He looked down to see a young man flailing in the slurry and making his way to the other side of the pool. He made it to the end, covered head to toe in filth, and jumped out of the pool.

“Well,” the old man said, “you got my daughter and my fortune.”

“Sir, I’m grateful for both,” the young man said. “But what I really want is to know who pushed me in the pool!”

Sometimes, getting asked to serve can feel like you’re being pushed into a mud-filled pool. But while ministry can sometimes be messy, the reward is really worth it in the end. So jump into service, get dirty, and you’ll receive the reward of God’s blessings at the end!

BE WILLING TO GET MESSY SERVING AND YOU’LL RECEIVE BLESSINGS BEYOND YOUR IMAGINATION!
