The safest place to keep your treasure

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal—“

–Matthew 6:19

Sam Houston, the great American and Texan, came to Christ late in his life. And a preacher, along with a congregation, went down to a creek to baptize him. He confessed his faith and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. And when he came up out of the water, he reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and said to the preacher, “Well Reverend, looks like you baptized my pocketbook, too!”

Did you know the Bible has much to say about how you use and manage your money? As a matter of fact, there are over 2000 verses in the Word of God that speak directly to this subject.

The reason for this is because how you steward your money is a key indicator of the quality and closeness of your relationship with God. It might even shock you to learn that Jesus Christ had more to say about material possessions and the way that we use our money than He spoke about heaven and hell combined!

So when it comes to how you steward your money, what grade would you give yourself? Do you keep your debt to a minimum and give generously? Or are you enslaved by your finances? Whatever you would say, remember that God wants to baptize your pocketbook. So store up your treasures in heaven by giving generously and living in freedom from debt!

STORE UP YOUR TREASURES IN HEAVEN BY GETTING RID OF DEBT AND GIVING GENEROUSLY TO GOD’S KINGDOM PURPOSES.
