Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
–Romans 12:2
When I was a kid, I made a pine box derby car. And you know, it was easy to keep up some speed as long as I was rolling down a hill!
But gradually I’d start to slow down, and eventually I’d stall and stop. Then I had to push the car up the hill and have somebody shove me down the hill again.
I think a lot of Christians are like that. As long as somebody pushes us…as long as we’re at the top of the hill…we’re flying high! But what we need today is the constant, continual commitment to the Word of God that will propel us forward in our walk even when we are at the bottom of the hill.
That means developing the mind of Christ in our mind so we think like Christ.
We’re so bombarded and brainwashed and softened up by our culture that we’re drunk on pleasure and happiness. But God says not to be conformed like that. Don’t be manipulated like that. Don’t be molded into the image of things around you!
It is my prayer that you will be committed to being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ in your life today by making a constant, continual commitment to the study of God’s Word!
IF WE ARE TO THINK LIKE CHRIST WE MUST HAVE A CONSTANT COMMITMENT TO THE WORD OF GOD.
