What a friend you have in Jesus

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life – the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us – that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

–1 John 1:1-3

If you had to describe the most important human relationship in your life today, what words would you use? I’m talking about that one person in your life that you’re closest with and can open up to when you need to talk. It may be a spouse, family member, or a good friend, but you’ve probably had that kind of companionship at some point.

But while your relationship with others can be a tremendous blessing, your relationship with Christ can be deeper and richer than any human friendship ever could be! And that’s because Christ is the only person in the world who knows you fully. He knows your deepest, darkest secrets that you’ve never told anyone.

So here’s the question I have for you today: Is that relationship reciprocal? Christ has invested so much in you, giving his own life on your behalf. So how much do you invest in giving to him?

Jesus isn’t somebody I just talk about.  He’s somebody I know and he lives inside of me. He’s my daily companion. Whether I’m in my car, on an airplane, spending time with my family, or spending time alone, I know the reality of the presence of God. And if you know that fellowship, you’ll experience that same reality in your life!

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FRIENDSHIP YOU HAVE. SO EXPERIENCE HIS PRESENCE BY KNOWING HIM THROUGH HIS WORD.
