I heard a woman sharing her testimony some time back at our church. She talked about how she had gotten away from church and felt like she was out of fellowship with God. But she drove past our church one morning on the way to work and noticed the cross we have on top.
Every morning for the next few months, she would drive to and from work and see that same cross. And each time she did, it was a constant reminder to her of how God loved her and was waiting with open arms for her to come back to Him.
That’s what Christ’s death on the cross is all about. It’s a demonstration that while we were still in the very act of rejecting God and sinning against Him, He sent His Son to die in our place and take the punishment and penalty of sin for us. And because of that, we’re welcomed with open arms into His loving presence.
When we look at the cross, we see God’s punishment and condemnation. But the beauty of the cross is that this punishment and condemnation was taken away from us and put on Jesus Christ. Thank God today for that truth and let the cross remind you of the God who now welcomes you with open arms!
LET THE CROSS REMIND YOU OF THE PUNISHMENT TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU AND THE LOVING FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD THAT’S YOURS THROUGH JESUS.
