For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
–1 Corinthians 12:13
Every Sunday, Pastor Thompson noticed a particular man in his service who would fall asleep about halfway through the service. It didn’t matter how loudly the pastor spoke or how interesting the sermon was. Without fail, the man would always fall asleep.
After the service one day, he came up to Pastor Thompson knowing he’d been caught sleeping. “Pastor Thompson,” he said trying to shrug it off, “I was praying for you during the service today. In fact, I pray for you during every service. Do you have a specific prayer I could pray for you next Sunday?”
“Sure.” the pastor exclaimed. “Let me suggest, ‘Now I lay me down to sleep!’”
There are many people today who see Sunday worship as a snooze-fest where they can just zone out while the people on stage do their performances. But the truth about corporate worship is that it involves every single person present in the church.
You have a role when it comes to worshipping God together with others. Whether you’re up front or in the last row, worship together as one with everyone. Be the church God intended by praising God as one body!
BE ONE IN WORSHIP BY ACTING NOT AS A PASSIVE OBSERVER, BUT AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN CORPORATE WORSHIP.
