What it means to live a surrendered life

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

–James 4:10

I once heard a pastor friend of mine speaking about what it means to be devoted to God. He made the point that many Christians get caught up in making commitments to Christ. Yet, even in the act of commitment, believers still have the element of control. They can uncommit and recommit again whenever they want.

When I heard this, it really opened my eyes to the very serious problem we’re facing today. Many Christians want to meet God on their terms. They’ll go here and do this or that for Jesus. But once you ask them to do something different than they had planned, well, God certainly wouldn’t call them to that!

The big question is this: Are we willing to completely give up control? Can we get to the point where we go beyond a simple commitment to God and can truly say, “Father… wherever, whatever, whenever… I’m all yours”?

That’s the kind of devotion God wants you to have toward Him. So instead of grasping onto whatever kind of control you can, trust God. Believe in His goodness and love for you and that He’ll never lead you astray. Surrender completely to Him by giving Him complete control over your life and He will lift you up!

LIVE A LIFE OF SURRENDER, NOT JUST COMMITMENT, TO GOD AND HE WILL LIFT YOU UP.
