“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
—Psalm 19:1
God speaks to us. “God is here,” Francis Schaeffer said years ago, “and He is not silent.” God has never left Himself without a witness. But the question is how does God speak?
The Scripture says from day to day and night to night, God’s word continues to speak. There is not a day without the Word of God being declared. There is not a night but that His presence is real. And the beauty and the symmetry and the vastness of our universe declares His great glory, because the creation, of course, presupposes a Creator.
The life of God is in the Bible. This is not an ancient museum piece, but it is the living, eternal Word of God. And so when God gave us the Bible, He gave us this complete revelation of Himself in the Scriptures that we now know is fulfilled in Christ.
Both Old Testament and New Testament is the complete revelation of God. You don’t need other religious books or amplification even of this Book; you have the Word of God! His Word! God’s Word, sure and trustworthy and timeless, and never failing. It means that you can trust what God says in His Word!
This Book, the Bible, is the book of salvation; it is the book of redemption. It is not a book to tell us how the heavens go but how to go to heaven. And all of it, from cover to cover is this great story of redemption, pointing to Jesus Christ the Savior of the world.
