You are not alone

The coronavirus pandemic has brought fear, chaos, grief, and isolation into our lives in a way most haven’t experienced before.

I hear about more strained marriages every day – as well as lonely seniors, anxious students, despairing business owners, and grieving families who’ve lost someone to the disease.

It’s a crisis, alright. And many people are experiencing anxiety and depression like never before – including Christians. So, how do we respond to that crushing strain?

It might surprise you to know that some very important people in the Bible dealt with depression. Moses, Jonah, and the prophet Elijah all experienced severe disappointment, disillusionment, and even feelings of hopelessness.

In the book of Numbers, you can read how Moses, in a fit of depression, prayed that he would die. Elijah did the same in 1 Kings 19:4. These men were stressed to the limit, anxious, and battling very real depression. And guess what? The Bible teaches that they were just like you and me. Speaking of Elijah, James 5:17 says that he “was a man with a nature like ours.” If these men whom God walked with so closely and used so powerfully struggled with their mental and emotional health, don’t you think God understands when we do too? More than that, don’t you think God wants to come alongside you to restore your soul so you find wholeness and completeness in Him?

The answer is yes! God sees you, loves you, and wants to help you.

If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other emotional struggles – you are not alone. Don’t believe the lie that you aren’t fit to be God’s child. Hear and respond to the life-giving, soul-healing truth of God’s Word.

That’s the subject of my NEW series, Help!: Facing Life’s Challenges with Confidence and Hope. Because we all need to know how to have a healthy soul, mind, and body, and how to support one another in dark days.

The Lord has promised each of us that we can find wholeness, peace, and security in Him. Let’s make Him our anchor during these challenging times!
