How to find the courage to share your faith
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it

One Saturday night awhile back, I was discussing with my wife Deb a sermon I was getting ready to preach the next day about having a burden to share the Gospel with others. And as we spoke, I came to realize that much of the church today has become very laid back about their witness. They don’t want to offend and they don’t want to run anyone off. So they’ve just stopped sharing the Gospel.
I am an introvert by nature. I love calm and order. I think best when I am in control. Yet, I have learned that this is not always best for my spiritual life. Being a minister’s wife, I have learned to hold my tongue, keep my opinions to myself, and shy away from controversy. However, in the Scriptures, we are told to be persuasive. I was reminded of this commandment this morning when I watched Franklin Graham on television. He presented a heartfelt persuading plea for people to turn to God in this, our time of need. God bless him – he is fearless in his quest to persuade people to find the Lord because he loves people. My goal today is to be strong in the persuading power of the Gospel. For to do so enriches my life, honors God, and rescues people who desperately need hope.
I once heard Billy Graham speak to a group of about 100 very affluent men and women at a dinner party. These were some of the smartest, wealthiest, and most successful people in America. Yet Billy Graham spoke to them like they were children: lovingly, tenderly, and simply.
Not long ago, I was talking to a lady who had just returned from a mission journey. It was her first time to leave the country, and I asked her about the difficulties she faced as she was communicating with people who couldn’t understand her language.
