I remember when I was young, we had a little saying that went, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” But as I’ve grown older, I’ve discovered that it’s not true. Words can be devastating. Gossip, slander, rumors, and innuendo can destroy a person’s life.
I can remember a time where about the only way we had to communicate was a rotary dial phone, or maybe snail mail. Look at today, and the advances are beyond the invention of the Gutenberg Press and the printing press that so dramatically changed the world and the culture in that day. We are living in an age of information and communication.
Do you realize that you have a constant dialogue going on with yourself? Well, you do and I do, too. And each of has a choice to make.
You and I need to give careful consideration to how we engage our culture on behalf of Christ.
