Have you become your own idol?
Some who read today’s verses might think, “This passage doesn’t really apply to me that much because I don’t have other gods. I don’t worship idols. I’m not in some cult or some false religion. I believe in God.”
Some who read today’s verses might think, “This passage doesn’t really apply to me that much because I don’t have other gods. I don’t worship idols. I’m not in some cult or some false religion. I believe in God.”
Today, I want to ask you, when God looks at your life, does He see genuine worship or does He see a counterfeit? Does He see something real or something phony?
The verses above describe one event in Jesus’ life that lets us know just how He feels about those who worship Him improperly. Jesus displayed His power that day to show us how He values genuine worship.
You know, there are few better examples of what a true worshipper looks like than Mary of Bethany. Her dedication and love for Christ is such an inspiration to me.
More than ever, I believe Christians today need to remember that worship is a verb.
